Slide Show - How to install it!?

It is always a good idea to create (edit) your Photo Albums (Product Catalogs) on your local computer. When you finish, just upload them on your web server (web site). This will save you a lot of time. Feel free to use any of our template pages for your new Photo Albums (Product Catalogs) web pages. Don't hesitate to edit them with your favorite WEB editor.

Caution! Donít use spaces in your folder and/or file names. It may cause problems online. Just replace any space with '_' (low line).

Installation

Imagine that you wish to create two slide-show presentations, one for your products and one for your last trip. What do you have to do!?

Step one - Create your image folders.

Create two new folders in your web folder and call them for example "products" and "trip". Put your product image files into the "products" folder. Put your last trip image files into the "trip" folder. Now you have two image folders with images in them.

Step two - Apply the applet.

Copy and paste slide_show.jar into your web folder. Open the web pages that must contain the slide-show applet. Add in the web pages the follow code there where you like to appears the slide-show and save the changes on your pages. <applet archive="slide_show.jar" code="buddysoft.SlideShow.class" width=100 height=150 mayscript="mayscript"> <param name="configFile" value="img folder/config file.txt"> </applet>

Step three - Set up the slide-shows.

Copy and paste "sample_config.txt" into any image folder. Rename the files for example "products_cfg" and "trip_cfg". Fill in the right folder and file names in the applet tags at your web pages and save the changes. For example: <param name="configFile" value="products/products_cfg.txt">

Now you have to explain to the applet how to show your images. Open the configuration file(s) and customize the applet.

When you have done, save the changes in your configuration files and launch any of your web page locally to make sure that your code works correct.

Step four - Publish your job on the web.

If you have applied the applet successfully on your local machine, you can upload all the required files in your web server where you are hosting your site.

NOTE! - Just uploading the .html document with the correct code will not work. You have to upload slide_show.jar and your image folders within all image and configuration files into the server, too.
