PA Float - how to apply it!?

It is always a good idea to create (edit) your Photo Albums (Product Catalogs) on your local computer. When you finish, just upload them on your web server (web site). This will save you a lot of time. Feel free to use any of our template pages for your new Photo Albums (Product Catalogs) web pages. Don't hesitate to edit them with your favorite WEB editor.

Caution! Don’t use spaces in your folder and/or file names. It may cause problems online. Just replace any space with '_' (low line).

Installation

Step 1 - Prepare all necessary files.
Copy and paste album_fl.jar (applet archive) into your web page folder. Make sure that your web page(s) and the applet archive (album_x.jar) are there.

Create a new folder in the same folder and give it a properly name - "my_images" for example. Copy all photos you would like to show on this photo album (product catalog) in this folder. Resize your images. The perfect size is about 500/375 pixels. Use .jpg and .gif image file formats only. Don't edit your originals! Always use copies!

Copy and paste (or create) a config.txt file into the image folder.

Step 2 - Apply (install) the applet on your web page(s).
Open your web page. Copy and paste the code below into your web page there where you would like to show the applet. <applet archive="album_fl.jar" code="viewer.ImageViewerApplet" width=150 height=150 mayScript> <param Name=configFile Value="my_images/config.txt"> </applet>

Replace the image folder (config file) names with yours. Save the changes on your web page and open it in your web browser on your local computer. Your photo album (product catalog) must appear on your web page.

Step 3 - Create (edit) your Photo Albums (Product Catalogs)
When your the applet starts, it will read the "configFile" parameter and will take a look for your config file (and images) in your image folder. In this case "my_images/config.txt" (and "my_images").

Open this config file in your favorite text editor (Notepad for example) Fill out in it all image file names, image titles and extra settings. Take a look how to do it at this simple config file. Save the file as a text document (.txt format). Press the "Refresh" ("Reload") button of your Web browser to see the changes.

- If you see only a gray rectangle - take a look if album_fl.jar is in the same folder with your page.
- If the applet cannot find your config file - check if you spelt corect your config file (image folder) name.
- If you get an image error - make sure that this image is in your image folder and if image file name (file extension) is spelt correct in your config file.
Be careful! All file (folder) names and extensions are case-sensitive!

Step 4 - Upload on WEB.
Explore and test your Photo Album (Product Catalog) to make sure that everything works correct. If you have created successfully your Photo Album (Product Catalog) just upload on your web server:

1. Your web page(s) that will show your Photo Album (Product Catalog).
2. Your image folder(s) with all images and the config file in it. (in this case "my_images")
3. The applet archive. You don't need to upload the applet archive if it is already there.

Congratulations about your new Photo Album (Product Catalog)!
